Mingling with humans is a major benefit of the 8th IPEd National Editors Conference in Brisbane, but they’re not the only locals you could meet.
Delegates are invited to join a trip to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary on Wednesday 13 September, including a return cruise on the Brisbane River. The cruise departs from the pontoon at the Gallery of Modern Art at 10 am and returns at 3.30 pm. Delegates will be accompanied by a member of Editors Queensland.
During the cruise, you’ll be entertained by the informative tour guide from Miramar Cruises. Once you arrive at Lone Pine, you’ll meet some of the more than 130 koalas and other Australian animals who call Lone Pine home. There are regular shows throughout the day, including a talk by the koala keepers, a snake-handling experience, a sheep dog trial display and a raptor flight show.
After three hours wandering around the world’s largest koala sanctuary, the cruise will bring you back to GOMA at 3.30 pm, with time to spare for a quick squiz at the free exhibitions in one of the country’s most popular galleries.
Price: Lone Pine cruise and entry – $75 pp ($60 concession). If more than 10 people sign up, the group will receive a 10% discount. The tour will proceed with any number.
Delegates not keen on riverboats are welcome to join the group at Lone Pine at 11.15 am. Lone Pine is offering conference delegates (with proof of registration) a 30% discount on entry price, which will bring it down from $36.00 to $25.20. There is no minimum number for this offer.
If you would like to join the cruise or visit Lone Pine, please confirm with conference organisers by Monday 4 September so we can confirm with the sanctuary and cruise company.
The 8th IPEd National Editors Conference will be held in Brisbane 13–15 September.
