Call for papers, workshops and panel participation
Editors Queensland, on behalf of the Institute of Professional Editors Limited, is seeking expressions of interest to present papers and workshops at the 8th IPEd National Editors Conference, Brisbane, Australia, 13–15 September 2017.
The conference program, with the theme Advancing Our Profession, will be divided into three streams: technology, professional development and building alliances.
This conference will focus on contemporary and emerging aspects of editing and publishing, including, but not limited to:
- accessibility of information
- best practice and innovative practice in editing
- building alliances between editors, authors and others in publishing (panel)
- business practices
- digital publishing
- editing particular genres and formats
- education and professional development of editors
- information technology developments and trends
- mentoring (panel)
- professional concerns
- publishing and other business trends
- research relevant to editing and publishing
- social media
Paper presentations and panel discussions
Expressions of interest (up to 200 words) in presenting a paper or participating in panel discussions should be submitted by Sunday 26 February 2017.
The subcommittee reserves the right to select papers appropriate to the program.
Expressions of interest (up to 300 words) in presenting a half-day workshop should be submitted by Sunday 26 February 2017.
Workshops may cover any of the aspects listed above and other topics of value in the professional development of working editors. Dedicated workshop rooms have been booked at the conference venue, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The rooms take 25 or more participants in classroom or banquet settings (more in theatre setting) and are equipped with lectern, microphone, whiteboard, flipchart, projector and screen. Laptops can be provided but are an additional cost.
